Your wet and wild couple's kayak experience starts with with a full safety briefing from an experienced instructor followed by a quick change into your life jacket or buoyancy aid.

You will need to be able to swim 50m with a buoyancy aid and be comfortable above and below the water. Max weight 16 stone, maximum height 6'3 at most venues. Please check for specific details.

For Sea kayaking if the water conditions are too rough then your experience may take place at a different location.

What to wear

What to wear depends on the weather and water conditions. Breathable, quick-drying garments, worn in layers, are the best bet, and on longer outings long trousers are better than shorts, because the kayak can rub against your knees. Make sure everything you wear allows good freedom of movement. Some paddlers prefer bare feet, but it's better to wear something for protection and warmth. A pair of old trainers will do.

A kayaking lesson/experience generally lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
